History[]
Scott completed the piece on April 12, 2018 and uploaded it to his DeviantART page the same day. It was done as an entry in a contest on DeviantART.
On March 8, 2021 it was posted to his Instagram page.
Subject and title[]
This is an entry in the "April A's" contest at the Disney-club at DeviantART. The purpose of the contest was to draw a Disney character whose name begins with the letter A. This is a Gargoyles character called the Archmage. Following is the description Scott listed on the artwork's DeviantART page:
The entries are supposed to be Disney characters whose names begin with the letter A. So, this is the Archmage from Gargoyles. (His actual given name was never revealed. He was only known as "Archmage".) And "fulminous venite" is the Latin he speaks when casting his lightning spell.
For the Judges:
- I've got the locale (high atop the parapets of Castle Wyvern) and the object specific to the character (the book that is considered the source of his power, the Grimorum Arcanorum).
Media[]
Scott started out with a pencil drawing, then inked the final line work. He then scanned the drawing to work on it digitally in Paint Shop Pro.
