Scott completed the piece on April 23, 2015 and uploaded it to his DeviantART page the next day.
Subject and title[]
Scott wanted to draw cartoony versions of Marvel Comics' Guardians of the Galaxy characters. He actually drew all five characters (Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot) but he wasn't pleased with how the other four characters turned out, so he only scanned and colored Drax.

Scott started out with a pencil sketch, then inked the final line work. He then scanned the drawing and added some digital work in Paint Shop Pro. The starry background was created with pictures found in an image search.
