Chrono Trigger #54 is 2019 fan art by W. Scott Pattullo. It is one in a series of images he referred to as the Chrono Trigger series.
History[]
Scott completed the piece on June 20, 2019. He uploaded it to his DeviantART page the same day. He liked the drawing so much that he also uploaded a "textless variant" version of the cover to both his DeviantART and Facebook pages. A year later, on April 19, 2020, the "textless variant" was also posted to his ArtStation page. And on March 19, 2021, the textless version was posted to his Instagram page.
Subject and title[]
Scott wanted to draw a series of comic covers as if the classic RPG Chrono Trigger was published in comic book form, each cover depicting the events in the game's story. (Scott played Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo.)
In this issue, the story would be:
...the quest for the Rainbow Shell. After finding the Rainbow Shell in 600 AD, the team travels to 1000 AD to discover that the King is on trial because they altered the past. Marle busts through the stained-glass window to fight Yakra XIII and rescue the King. The Rainbow Shell is then used to craft new weapons for the coming battle.
Media[]
Scott started out with pencil sketches, then inked the final line work. He then scanned the drawings and added some digital work in Paint Shop Pro.
