Scott completed the piece on April 20, 2017. He uploaded it to his DeviantART page the same day.
Subject and title[]
Scott wanted to draw a series of comic covers as if the classic RPG Chrono Trigger was published in comic book form, each cover depicting the events in the game's story. (Scott played Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo.)
In this issue, the story would be:
...all about the Masamune sword. 1) Crono and the team take the blade, hilt, and rare red rock to Melchior in 1000 AD so he can repair it. 2) The team then takes the sword to the Cursed Woods in 600 AD where they recruit Frog. 3) Frog uses the newly repaired Masamune to split open the entrance to the Magic Cave (the path leading to Magus' Castle).

Scott started out with a pencil sketch, then inked the final line work. He then scanned the drawing and added some digital work in Paint Shop Pro.
