Plot[]
While tracking a criminal to Naboo, Jedi Master Mathis inadvertently discovers a young Force-sensitive Gungan boy who would later become an MI5 operative.

Concept[]
Mathis discovering Gruu was one of the first events mentioned in the From Ryloth With Love role-playing game in 2005, when Scott first created the Star Wars...007 Style series. But the story detailing the event (A Force-Sensitive on Naboo) wasn't written until eight years later.
Scott wrote the story to give Gruu and Mathis a little bit of backstory.

The in-universe events of A Force-Sensitive on Naboo take place in 65 BBY, 33 years before the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
